Update #2 11:30 a.m.

TYNGSBOROUGH — Fire Chief Wes Russell and Police Chief Richard D. Howe report that their respective departments are at the scene of a serious house fire.

At 9:21 a.m., Tyngsborough Police received a 911 call for a fire at a 24 Fletcher Drive, a two-story raised ranch single-family dwelling.

Upon arrival, a second alarm of response was quickly requested, and reports indicated that multiple people were trapped inside. One resident was quickly aided outside by an arriving Tyngsborough Police Officer. That resident was treated at the scene and evaluated by emergency medical services personnel.

A heavy smoke condition inside the home prevented the first arriving officers from making further entry into the home. A second resident, an adult female, was trapped inside the home, in a second-floor bedroom. She was brought out of the house by Tyngsborough firefighters who arrived soon afterward.

The victim was transported to Lowell General Hospital. A medical helicopter was originally requested but canceled.

The Dracut, Dunstable and Nashua, N.H., Fire Departments and Lowell General Hospital Paramedics and Trinity Ambulance responded to the scene to assist Tyngsborough. The American Red Cross is also responding to assist displaced residents. Chelmsford and Westford Fire Departments responded to Tyngsborough for station coverage.

This is a breaking news update. Additional updates will be provided as soon as they are available.
