The Executive Board of the Middlesex County Chiefs of Police Association reports that the Association has donated $1,000 to the State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers (SHOPO) Benevolent Fund to support police officers who have continued to serve their communities even after losing their homes.
SHOPO has asked for support for the officers in Maui, nine of whom lost their homes entirely, and one of whom lost part of their home.
“They are left with nothing, yet they’re out patrolling Maui’s streets and participating in the search, rescue, and recovery of their friends, family, and neighbors,” SHOPO shared in a fundraising tweet.
“We are proud to make this donation in support of our fellow officers in Maui who continue to serve their community even after suffering a devastating loss,” said Tyngsborough Police Chief Richard Howe. “We challenge all of our law enforcement partners to consider donating as well. These officers are truly dedicated to their community, and they deserve our support.”
“The way these officers continue to serve despite suffering a significant loss is commendable,” said Tewksbury Police Chief Ryan Columbus. “These officers’ dedication should make everyone in law enforcement proud, and I hope we can all come together to support them.”
