Tyngsborough Police Announce Bridge and Road Closures for Tyngsborough Block Party

Chief Richard Howe and the Tyngsborough Police Department advise the community that the Tyngsborough Bridge will be closed to traffic on the evening of Saturday, Aug. 26 due to a fireworks display that is being planned as part of the Tyngsborough Block Party at the Bridge.

The Town-run event will be held from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., with a professional fireworks display planned at dusk.

Fireworks will be launched from a barge in the Merrimack River just south of the bridge. Boat traffic on the river and vehicle and pedestrian traffic over the bridge will be closed before and during the fireworks display.

The fireworks display and associated bridge closure is expected to occur between 8:30 and 9 p.m.

  • Winslow Road will be closed to through traffic from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • The Tyngsboro Bridge will be temporarily closed to vehicles and pedestrians from approximately 7 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., to allow fireworks barge to safely pass under.
  • The Tyngsboro Bridge will be temporarily closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic for the duration of the fireworks display from approximately 8:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • The Merrimack River will be closed to passing civilian boat traffic near the Tyngsboro Bridge area from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Massachusetts State Police, Tyngsborough Police and Lowell Police will be on scene enforcing a 280-foot safety zone around the fireworks barge. The safety zone will begin at 5 p.m. with a partial river closure and at 7 p.m. all marine traffic will be halted in the area from the Tyngsborough Bridge south for 560 feet until the completion of the event. Mariners are advised to use caution when transiting the area.

The Tyngsborough Block Party at the Bridge will include food and dessert trucks, craft vendors, interactive booths, local artisans, pony rides, a petting zoo, kids games, craft beer and specialty wines for those 21 and over, as well as a dunk tank.
