Tyngsborough Police Department Partners with The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division to Show Their Strength During Inaugural Red Kettlebell Challenge

The Salvation Army’s iconic Red Kettle Campaign is well underway this season, and members of the Tyngsborough Police Department are participating in a new competition among Massachusetts first responders to help lift up their communities to meet growing needs.

The Red Kettlebell Challenge will unify fitness, fun and fundraising, and empower participants and community members with the opportunity to do the most good for those in need in Tyngsborough.

First responders from the Tyngsborough Police Department commit to lifting a kettlebell one time for each dollar raised via an online campaign. Donations can be made through the Tyngsborough Police Department Virtual Red Kettle, and the more donations that come in the bigger the challenge for Tyngsborough first responders.

All money raised supports The Salvation Army’s year-round work providing emergency assistance, feeding the hungry, and offering shelter and support to those in need here in the Merrimack Valley.

“We are proud to lend our support to The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division as they work to support those in need throughout our region and community this holiday season,” said Chief Richard Howe.

“Tyngsborough Police have stepped up to the plate to help us make the holidays brighter for those in need this holiday season,” said Major Timothy Ross, who leads The Salvation Army in Lowell. “Each dollar raised by The Salvation Army stays in the community and region where it was donated, so any funds raised by this effort will stay right here in the Merrimack Valley.”

With fewer retail stores, coin shortages, and more people shopping online, The Salvation Army is providing communities, individuals and organizations with a new, fun way to support essential programs that help their neighbors through the wide range of social services the organization provides.

About The Salvation Army’s Red Kettlebell Challenge

As of 2023, The Salvation Army’s iconic Red Kettle Campaign is complemented by a competition among Massachusetts first responders — the Red Kettlebell Challenge — that will unify fitness and fundraising to benefit the local communities.

The inaugural Red Kettlebell Challenge provides firefighters, police officers and EMS personnel with an opportunity to show their strength while giving back to the communities they serve — and creates an opportunity to do the most good by empowering participants and community members to challenge more to join in. For every dollar raised, a first responder will complete a red kettlebell workout rep.
